Zaterdag
Gisterenavond is Gaia wat onrustig geworden. Toen ik thuis kwam van het dansen liep ze onrustig rond te miauwen. De werpkist was door haar en de
andere katten helemaal overhoop gehaald en versnipperd. Eerst maar nieuwe kranten erin en de dekentjes weer wat fatsoenlijker gelegd.
Ik ben bij haar gaan zitten bij
de werpkist en Dawün, Jila en Kruimel kwamen ze af en aan ook er bij liggen. Gaia kreeg wat harde buiken, maar verder weinig spannends.
Ik ben op de bank gaan liggen slapen en kon zo af en toe kijken of er wat veranderde, maar alles bleef betrekkelijk rustig.
Zaterdagmorgen heeft ze nog steeds harde buiken. Om 8.50 uur zie ik dat ze licht persweeën krijgt. Dit houdt zo de hele morgen aan.
Om 12.55 uur worden de weëen sterker en om 13.10 uur springt het vruchtblaasje. Daarna komen de weeën wat regelmatiger op gang en zet de bevalling
door.
14.30 uur 1e kitten, komt met kopje eerst het is een licht en een kater, duidelijk te zien. Het wordt gepoests en gewassen door Gaia, Dawün en Jila.
Kruimel zit er ook bij, maar is niet zo van het wassen. Als de nageboorte er uit is kan ik het kitten even pakken. De dames eten de nageboorte op.
Het kitten weegt 60 gram.
14.45 uur 2e kitten, komt met kontje eerst, het is een donker en ook weer een katertje. Het is op een gegeven moment los, maar ik zie geen
nageboorte. Het kitten weegt 76 gram.
14.55 uur 3e kitten, Gaia houdt de vaart erin, ook weer een stuitbevalling, dit is weer een licht en kan een poesje zijn. Het weegt 72 gram en krijgt
een geel bandje om.
15.30 uur 4e kitten, Gaia heeft even bij liggen komen, ook weer stuit en weer een licht, maar dit lijkt me een kater. Het weegt 70 gram en krijgt een
rood bandje.
15.45 uur 5e kitten, weer een korte rustpauze maar dan is dit er ook en alweer stuitbevalling. Een donker en volgens mij een poesje, 76 gram en roze
bandje.
Daarna gebeurt er niet veel meer, ze liggen wat onrustig, rustig met z'n allen in de werpkist. Gaia gaat er bij liggen en wordt kalm. Ik wacht nog
een tijdje maar het lijkt erop dat er niets meer komt, ook de nageboorte niet meer die ik van kitten 2 niet gezien heb. Misschien toch snel opgegeten
door de dames. Het lijkt me ook vreemd dat het na 3 kittens alsnog erin kan zitten, maar goed, je weet nooit.
Na ongeveer een uur haal ik de bovenste natte doeken uit de werpkist en ligt alles op drogen doeken. Dat heeft ze snel gefixed in anderhalf uur tijd.
Saturday
Yesterday evening Gaia became restless. When I got home from dancing she was restless and was miauwing. The welping box was a mess because of her
and the other cats. So first I put in new newspapers and layed down the blankets nicely again. I sat down with her, Dawün, Jila and Kruimel also
came to lay down with her. Gaia got some hard tummys, but nothing exicting at that moment. I spend the night on the couch so I could keep an eye on
her, but all was sort of quiet.
Saturday morning she is still having hard tummy's. About 8.50 o'clock I see she is getting some light contractions. This continues the whole
morning. About 12.55 the contractions became stronger and about 13.10 the almnion sack pops. Then the contractions become
more regular and the delivery sets true.
14.30 first kitten, head first and a light one and a boy, I can see it clearly. It gets washed and cleaned up by Gaia, Dawün and Jila.
Kruimel is sitting with them but is not washing the kitten. When the placenta is out I can pick up the kitten. The ladies eat the placenta.
The kittens weight is 60 gram
14.45 second kitten, breechdelivery, it is a dark one and again a male. At a point it is loose but I don't see the placenta. The kittens weight is
76 gram
14.55 third kitten, Gaia doesn't slow down, again a breech delivery, this is again a light kitten and can be a female. It weight is 72 gram and it
gets a yellow colar.
15.30 fourh kitten, Gaia took a little pause, this is again a breech and also light but looks like a male again. The weight is 70 gram and he gets
a red colar.
15.45 fifth kitten, again a little break but then this one is born and again breech delivery. A dark one and I think a female, 76 gram and a pink
colar.
Then not much happens anymore, they ar laying down a bit restless/not restless with all of them in the welping box. Gaia lays down and gets calm.
I wait for a while to see something is comming, not even the afterbirth of the second kitten. Maybe they ate it very quickly. And it is rather
strange that it didn't came out between the last 3 kittens. But anyway, you never know.
After about an hour I take out the top blankets so everybody can lay down on dry blankets. She did a nice and fast job in one and a half hour.
